Dr. Sandi Vonnes is a certified gerontological and advanced oncology nurse practitioner and is certified as a geriatric specialist. She is a certified professional in healthcare quality and age-friendly health care. Dr. Vonnes is recognized as a fellow of the American Heart Association, American Geriatric Society, and American Academy of Nursing. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing and was recognized as a Hartford Distinguished Educator in Geriatric Nursing. Under her leadership, Moffitt Cancer Center was the first hospital in Florida and the first cancer center recognized by IHI as an age-friendly health system committed to care excellence. Dr. Vonnes hosts GAPNA CHAT, which features leaders in geriatric health care. She was awarded GAPNA’s Excellence in Leadership 2022 and the Oncology Nurses Society Excellence in Care for the Older Adult with Cancer Award in 2019.
