OD01: An Intervention to Reduce Sedentary Behavior in Adults with CKD: A Feasibility Study

The results of a feasibility study regarding the application of a sedentary-reducing intervention in a sample of adults with chronic kidney disease will be shared. Discussion will include conclusions, along with application to practice.

OD02: Peritoneal Dialysis: Expanding Patient Options and Reducing Complications

This session will explore options and benefits of the peritoneal dialysis (PD) modality. Common complications in PD and the nephrology nurse’s role also will be reviewed.

OD03: Effect of Exercise Training on Inflammatory Pathways in Older Adults with CKD

This session provides a review of findings and implications associated with a study to examine the effect of exercise training on the inflammatory markers in older adults with chronic kidney disease. (Note: Research funded by ANNA Research Grant.)

OD04: Advanced Care Planning

This session will emphasize the importance of advance care planning for patients, especially for those with advanced kidney disease, and will define terminology such as goals of care discussion, advance directive, and durable power of attorney. The presentation also will cover the ability and instructions to bill for the goals of care discussion.

OD05: Patient Re-evaluation and Management after a Failed Transplant

This speaker will discuss unique challenges of dealing with a failed kidney transplant and solutions for evaluation and listing for re-transplant options.

OD06: Substance Abuse Disorders in the CKD/ESKD Population

This session offers an overview of the unique challenges of providing care and treatment for patients with chronic kidney disease / end-stage kidney disease who also have substance abuse disorders.
