Dr. Brenda Douglass is an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and a family nurse practitioner who brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the nursing profession. Her multifaceted career integrates academic, clinical, leadership, research, and administrative roles. Dr. Douglass's clinical expertise spans over 30 years in acute and community settings in delivering evidence-based care to diverse patient populations including complex, chronic care management. With a focus on complex care environments and optimizing patient outcomes, Dr. Douglass educates and advocates for inspiring nurse leaders to be well-equipped for contemporary healthcare challenges. She teaches AP-DNP nursing students in multiple tracks and is a national leader in PPC dissemination efforts for both NP students and clinicians. Her research interests include health and wellness, chronic care management, diabetes, patient empowerment, and shared decision-making in older adults. As a certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES), certified nurse educator (CNE), and certified tobacco treatment specialist (CTTS), she maintains an active practice in endocrinology and metabolic disorders while serving diverse populations in primary care.
