Rima Itani Al-Nimr is director of clinical education for the Center to Advance Palliative Care and is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of CAPC's large portfolio of clinical education materials, including online courses, workshops, and tools that have helped train more than 160,000 interprofessional clinicians in the US. A specialist in adult learning strategies with extensive experience in medical education, Ms. Al-Nimr comes to CAPC from The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH. Prior to joining Dartmouth, she taught at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. As a licensed and registered dietitian, she has cared for patients and research participants with serious illness in the areas of oncology, intensive care, transplant surgery, geriatrics, and maternal-fetal medicine. She has served as an expert reviewer for The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) multi-specialty portfolio program. As part of CAPC’s interprofessional clinical leadership team, Ms. Al-Nimr is CAPC’s clinical nutrition faculty expert, advising on and developing nutrition-related content in the CAPC curriculum. Ms. Al-Nimr obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics degree from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon, and her Master of Science in Nutrition degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. Her work in medical and clinical education has garnered several awards, including the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Department of Nutrition Outstanding Alumni Award, the Geisel School of Medicine Dartmouth Distinguished Course Director Preclinical Teaching Award, and the Marcom Award for CAPC's Pain Management - Relieving Suffering and Reducing Risk unit.
