Description

Kidney disease is a common condition among older adults that requires complex decision-making when providing primary or specialty care. This presentation will discuss why it is imperative that APRNs are knowledgeable about gerontological kidney-specific content to prevent progression of kidney disease. Focus will also address why education must prepare the APRN workforce to address the challenges of advanced kidney disease in the older adult population by ensuring that there is competence in assessing an individual’s risk and patient education and a management plan are discussed to prevent progression of the disease, complications, and/or death.
