Kathy Moss is the senior director of nursing informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). She has 37 years of healthcare experience that began with clinical nursing in oncology/hematology, pediatrics, and pediatric critical care and then progressed to various healthcare organization roles in leadership, consulting, and nursing informatics. Kathy has served in key roles for major system implementations at VUMC such as an Epic EHR transition in 2017, a barcode medication administration implementation in the ambulatory clinics, and recent efforts to expand virtual nursing in adult medical/surgical units. Kathy is passionate about care coordination and the integration of standardized interdisciplinary care plans, nursing documentation burden reduction, and the use of integrated technology to optimize care, improve quality, and drive efficiencies. She is the programmatic leader for VUMC’s nursing informatics committee which provides a shared governance forum for front line nurses to shape documentation design and the nurses’ use of technology.
