Shawn Coomer has served as the manager of nursing informatics services at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, for almost four years. She has been a registered nurse for fourteen years, with bedside experience in a variety of inpatient medical and surgical units. Shawn worked as an Epic credentialed and principal trainer doing electronic medical record training and as a nursing informaticist prior to her current position. Shawn has a master's degree in nursing informatics and a master in business administration degree and is also board certified by the ANCC in nursing informatics; this combination of education has allowed her to apply business principals to the organization and structure of the nursing informatics department. Shawn currently serves as the secretary of the Tennessee ANIA chapter.
