Charlene Platon serves as director of ambulatory nursing practice at Stanford Health Care's Center for Professional Practice in Palo Alto, CA. With over 13 years of experience in nursing, she has held various clinical and leadership roles in ambulatory and inpatient care settings. Charlene earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing Science degrees from the University of California, Irvine. She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and public health nurse. In her current position for over five years, Charlene collaborates with operational and clinical partners to enhance and innovate ambulatory nursing delivery operations across the organization. She oversees and supports multiple ambulatory care nursing programs, including the nurse coordinator clinical ladder, policies and procedures, and provision of guidance for nursing scope of practice. She leads the nurse-led visit initiative for ambulatory care. Since 2020, Charlene has been an active member of AAACN and participates in the Ambulatory Care Nursing Scope and Standards Revision Task Force. She contributed to the review of the Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing, 10th edition.
