Maureen McMaster has been a pediatric nurse for 35 years. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in Camden, NJ, in1987 with her associate degree and nursing diploma. She was enrolled in Wilmington University and has taken classes in the BSN to MSN program. She has worked at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia her entire career. Initially, she worked on a cardiac stepdown unit for about 10 years. During that time, she also worked in the ER assisting residents with triage calls. She was one of the first nurses to join the after-hours program over 25 years ago. During her 35-year nursing career, she has also worked as an elementary school nurse in Cecil County, Maryland, in the special care nursery at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, and as a homecare nurse for Christiana Care. She is currently BRN and CPN certified. She is currently QA/QI co-leader in her department and helped to design a peer call evaluation tool that is currently being used.
