Dr. Mary Lough is an implementation scientist and clinical nurse specialist (CNS) at Stanford Health Care in California. Her clinical background is in critical care, and she has experience as a clinical nurse, educator, CNS, and nurse scientist. In her current role, Dr. Lough co-directs an evidence-based practice (EBP) fellowship for clinical nurses and consults with members of the healthcare team to support their evidence-based practice projects. Dr. Lough obtained her PhD degree from the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). She is a clinical professor in the department of physiological nursing at UCSF and a clinical associate professor in the school of medicine at Stanford University. Dr. Lough is active in the Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), American Heart Association (AHA), National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS), and the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).
