Dr. S. Bobo Tanner is a graduate of Harvard University and received his medical degree with honors from Wake Forest University. He completed his internship and residency fellowships and board certification in rheumatology and in allergy/immunology at Vanderbilt University and later served as a registrar in the department of rheumatology at the Royal Free Hospital, London, England. As founder and director of the Vanderbilt Osteoporosis Clinic, he sees patients with a variety of metabolic bone conditions. He was recognized as the Clinician of the Year from International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) in 2007. His professional membership and service includes membership in the American College of Physicians, fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, member of the Royal Society of Medicine, and past president of the ISCD. He currently works on the ISCD Education Council updating and teaching bone density courses throughout the year.
