Description

Polypharmacy is common in the care of older adults and can lead to the use of potentially inappropriate medications and severe adverse outcomes. Deprescribing is an essential step of the prescribing process to decrease the use of potentially inappropriate medications and is especially beneficial when incorporating patient preferences and shared decision-making. This session will explore the benefits of the deprescribing process and ways to use shared decision-making principles to assess the potential for deprescribing in a variety of situations.
