Dr. Myla Magno is a gerontological specialist and psychiatric nurse practitioner. She currently works as the medical consultant provider at Houston VA’s community care programs. She has been in the healthcare profession for over 30 years, with 15 of those years as a nurse practitioner in SNFs, long-term care, and assisted living centers. She has also worked in geriatric palliative house calls at private, state, and the VA home-based primary care program. Dr. Magno has been certified as a gerontological nurse specialist since 2019 and was certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in 2021. She received her master's and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees at UT Health Science Cizik School of Nursing and completed the post-master psychiatric NP program at Wilkes University 2021. Dr. Magno is an active GAPNA member since 2010 and served as past president for the Geriatric Nurse Practitioners Association Texas Chapter in 2019.
