This session will provide attendees with an understanding of effective strategies and best practices for supporting residents with serious mental illness (SMI) and substance use disorders (SUD) in nursing facilities. Discussion will include how to implement symptom management techniques, de-escalation strategies, and develop a behavioral health-friendly environment that enhances the capacity of care partners to interact effectively with these residents. Attendees will be able to assess individualized solutions offered by regional behavioral specialists and their effectiveness in enhancing facility capabilities.
