Description

This session will discuss the importance of utilizing an evidence-based end-of-life order set for basic symptom management and patient support. Discussion will also include the importance of utilizing clinical experts in palliative care and hospice to provide additional expertise, not only in managing symptoms, but in evidence-based methods discussing goals of care. For a dying patient, there is only one chance to "get things right" and potentially a lifetime of suffering and guilt for those who remain if things go wrong. This presentation offers strategies to decrease suffering and increase comfort at end of life.
