Dr. Pankaj Vyas is manager of clinical informatics at San Antonio Regional Hospital, where he leads clinical informatics, digital transformation, EHR optimization, clinician adoption, workflow redesign, and informatics governance initiatives across the organization. Dr. Vyas brings extensive experience across nursing practice, healthcare information technology, consulting, analytics, and clinical systems implementation. He earned his PhD degree in nursing, data, and systems science from the University of Arizona in April 2026. Dr. Vyas’ scholarly interests sit at the intersection of nursing, clinical informatics, artificial intelligence, EHR data, clinical decision support, and systems thinking. His work also reflects a growing interest in climate and health informatics. He is the recipient of the Emmons Dean’s Dissertation Award, the Pearl Parvin Coulter Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence, and the University of Arizona, College of Nursing Outstanding Dissertation Award. Professionally, Dr. Vyas is active in several informatics and nursing organizations, including the American Medical Informatics Association, ANIA, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, International Medical Informatics Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and Nursing Knowledge Big Data Science initiative. He also serves as co-chair of the AMIA nursing informatics working group digital communications committee and has contributed to national and international nursing informatics scholarship and service.
