Dr. Leyla Pordeli is a board-certified nurse informaticist and healthcare educator. In her role as department chair of online programs and marketing at Jacksonville University, she leads both RN-BSN and MSN online programs with a strong focus on academic excellence, innovation, and student success. Her professional background combines expertise in nursing informatics, healthcare technology, leadership, online learning, and data analytics with a strong commitment to bridging clinical practice, academia, and innovation. Prior to her academic leadership role, she served as a senior nursing informatics specialist, leading and supporting EHR adoption, health information technology initiatives, system design and testing, end-user education, and HIT project management. Her work focused on optimizing clinical workflows and advancing technology-driven solutions to support efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care while improving operational efficiency. Her current scholarship focuses on artificial intelligence competencies and the evolving educational needs necessary to prepare nursing students, faculty, and practicing nurses for a technology-driven healthcare environment. She strongly advocates for nurses to play an active role in the design, implementation, evaluation, and adoption of healthcare technologies and AI solutions to ensure these innovations enhance clinical workflows, support frontline practice, and improve patient outcomes.
