Elsy Gonzalez has over ten years of working in the aging network and is currently responsible for the oversight of reporting and administration related to the assigned contract. She provides overall leadership and supervision to all aspects of the operation of the community care for the elderly (CCE) lead agency unit, ensuring that it meets DOEA and Alliance for Aging, Inc. contract requirements. Her oversight includes caseloads in both Miami-Dade and Monroe County and programs include community care for the elderly (CCE), home care for the elderly (HCE), adult protective services (APS) provided through the CCE program, and the hospital-to-home (H2H) program, formerly the cares hospital transition program. Prior to being at ILS, Elsy was responsible for assisting in the selection and administration of contracts as well as the evaluation of contract compliance and quality of programs/services offered by agencies under contracts. Elsy first began working with older adults as a volunteer with Easter Seals of South Florida, providing in-home respite to older adults with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease as a form of relief to caregivers. In addition, she also provided support in the adult day cares where she spent time with the older adults doing activities. Elsy earned her master’s degree in psychology as well as a graduate certificate in geropsychology and graduate certification in mental health and wellness with an emphasis in grief and bereavement in psychology. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida International University and an associate of arts – AA, physician assistant from Miami Dade College.
