Dr. Carolyn S. Harmon is a professor and director of healthcare leadership and nursing informatics at the University of South Carolina, where she also serves as a nurse scientist for the ACORN Center, a Propel AI scholar, and a provost’s AI teaching fellow. She holds a PhD degree from the University of South Carolina and a DNP degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Harmon is ANCC board certified in nursing informatics, a certified Six Sigma green belt, and an Amy V. Cockcroft leadership fellow. A nationally recognized expert in nursing informatics and digital health leadership, Dr. Harmon is the past president of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), currently chairs the artificial intelligence subgroup of the Learning Collaborative for Digital Health Workgroup, and co-chairs the policy and advocacy workgroup within the Nursing Knowledge Big Data Science Initiative. In recognition of her sustained contributions to nursing science, informatics, and innovation, she has been selected for induction as a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in October 2025.
